Ten or twelve years of training can make a student talented. It rarely makes them complete. The Finishing School exists for the gap almost no one else can see — and almost nobody else can name.
Technique was never the end of the teaching. Discipline, presence, character, and how a student carried themselves in the world — all of it was shaped in the same breath as the raga. That is the tradition this Finishing School comes from. We are not adding skills onto a finished musician. We are finishing what training alone was never designed to complete.
"A true Guru does not only teach you to play. A true Guru teaches you who to become while you play."— The principle behind every session at Sharangadev
After years of training thousands of students, the gaps fall into four layers — and every student needs a different combination of them.
Dr. Sangeeta Shankar evaluates your performance, technique, and presence directly — not a form, not a checklist.
The specific combination of gaps holding you back is identified — across sound, stage, professional life, and mindset.
A path built only for you — not a fixed syllabus — addressing exactly what you need, nothing you don't.
The Finishing School is not available by application alone. Every student is personally evaluated, and acceptance is earned — because the work only holds meaning when it's built around someone genuinely ready for it.
If you have ten or more years of training, can perform reasonably well, and sense there's something still standing between you and being seen as a true professional — this evaluation is where that gets named.
A small group of students — each with a decade or more of training behind them — now being shaped into stage-ready professionals.

Daughter and disciple of Padma Vibhushan Dr. N. Rajam, and a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award from the President of India, Dr. Shankar carries seven generations of musical lineage. Beyond performance, she is known for a rare skill: identifying — quickly and precisely — exactly what stands between a talented student and a complete professional, and building the specific path to close that gap.
If you've trained for years, can perform well, and sense there's still something unnamed standing in your way — apply for an evaluation with Dr. Sangeeta Shankar.
